"Barbara Pinna's art stems from a similar conception and has developed in a direction that is not unusual in our times, building upon her knowledge of the once revolutionary ideas of the old avantgarde artists, ideas which are now no longer able to be put into use but, nonetheless, are still full of powerful messages. Moreover, the principle that storytelling should not be the function of painting is a fundamental aspect of Barbara Pinna's concept of representational art. In her work, art becomes the subject of contemplation and therefore also of introspection. It is an introspection that leads to a melancholy journey for, as those who came before us learned, the vision expressed in painting, as demonstrated by these clear convictions, is that of "a story completely lacking in action" (Claudio Strinati).
